Looks really fantastic! I like the space effect and also the cool rotating landmass puzzle device.
Hempuli | March 11, 2011 2:36 PM
Another puzzle platformer! Yeah! We don't have enough.
juan | March 11, 2011 2:58 PM
this is totaly a ripoff of paper mario
Anonymous | March 11, 2011 3:10 PM
You're totally a ripoff of idiots.
BMcC | March 11, 2011 3:17 PM
wow the top three comment guys are obviously new because people have been waiting for fez forever
guy | March 11, 2011 3:24 PM
Is that a tesseract in the trailer?
fait | March 11, 2011 3:37 PM
I think that might just be the most atmospheric chiptune I've ever heard. I'll be honest, I wasn't too bothered about Fez 'til now but colour me intrigued.
Graham Goring | March 11, 2011 4:14 PM
@Graham: that's probably because it's not really chiptunes per se, just electronic music with prominent sawtooth/square waves.
The number of layered voices and chorus/reverb both sort of make it (a) easier to sound atmospheric, and (b) far removed from whatever purists would call chiptunes.
My baseless guess is many layers of Plogue Chipsounds run through some VSTs.
Does sound nice though. I want to know how they're drawing that hypercube.
raigan | March 11, 2011 4:35 PM
Not that Paper Mario was a lousy game or something but comparing Fez to Paper Mario doesn't make much sense.
sleepy_gamer | March 11, 2011 5:52 PM
why is it that none of these trailers show gameplay?
Anonymous | March 11, 2011 6:06 PM
ugly trailer, but I know the game will be good!
Luke | March 11, 2011 6:39 PM
That is indeed a tesseract. 4D Fez?
Anonymous | March 11, 2011 7:00 PM
It certainly looks and sounds pretty, but if Babel is any indicator, then these puzzles will have to extremely carefully made to stray from being incredibly frustrating.
Also, ITSP is going to be playable at PAX. Hells yeah.
Bob | March 11, 2011 7:16 PM
This game has been so long in the making I can no longer be excited by it. I feel like I already "get" the possibilities of the 3D world in 2D slices. I just don't feel like the actual game will have much to offer.
Plus there was the guy who made a fez-like in 48 hours. So why is this taking so long?
Joe Larson | March 11, 2011 9:16 PM
Fez is a real game? I never would have guessed!
Anonymous | March 11, 2011 10:29 PM
That was totally 4D.
That was some atmospheric music, man.
Anon | March 12, 2011 12:32 AM
What I first thought when I read the title:
http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSGlaFI9UOZGPEiDTl-eJTsp0GyjF3iU8Vl_gRW-908rhpGsMzrIQ&t=1
This game certainly has some eye candy, and the music was very atmospheric, but I don't see much content to the gameplay atm.
Grinner | March 12, 2011 5:42 AM
These guys sure make a lot of trailers.
gamecreator | March 12, 2011 11:20 AM
Wow, only now did I realize that when I said 'rotating landmass puzzle device', I made it sound like I meant the 3D-2D gimmick itself, while I in fact meant the weird rotation used in that one level, with those pushable levers and so forth.
Hempuli | March 12, 2011 11:32 AM
I might just buy a 360 for this game
Chilla | March 12, 2011 4:01 PM
Shame the development team are such a bunch of whiny little bitches.
Andrew | March 12, 2011 4:32 PM
Anybody know what/who "Trapdoor" is? Logo after Polytron... is that a publisher?
annnonoy | March 12, 2011 6:54 PM
Make a gameplay trailer. All of the trailers that haven't been gameplay have been awful. When will developers learn this? PEOPLE LIKE GAMEPLAY, especially when the gameplay is so unique, why not show it off?
Bert | March 12, 2011 7:29 PM
This isn't a trailer, it's a teaser. That's the difference. Teasers are made to delay a trailer. Or just delay.
gamecreator | March 13, 2011 2:03 AM
I want to hate because I hate Phil Fish but honestly, it looks cool.
Anonymous | March 13, 2011 10:40 AM
you hate me?
why?
FISH | March 13, 2011 1:52 PM
There sure is a lot of hate in these comments...
Anon | March 13, 2011 11:41 PM
Well I thought it was a brilliant little teaser. Looking forward to the game.
Devin | March 14, 2011 7:43 AM
There's not a whole lot to like. Not a whole lot of player interaction on a series of videos with a play button.
The concept is interesting but by no means a reason to wait several years for a release. I'm looking forward to someone hijacking the idea and running with it.
Anonymous | March 14, 2011 12:37 PM
seems to alias a lot, it needs oversampling
Anonymous | March 14, 2011 2:02 PM
Having played the game at PAX East I can say that...
...Fez isn't just a puzzle game that uses a 2D-3D mechanic. It feels more than that. This situation reminds me of the Zelda games in the sense that... we've seen the core mechanics 1 million times before but no matter how many times we see it we know the game will still be BADASS! And no matter how we think we've figured out every direction the game could take a certain mechanic there's always 50 other avenues we some how forgot to explore.
Theres actually an intriguing story, thought provoking music and its just plain fun!
