Not feeling it. When it looks this average it really needed a style that wasn't so much like Borderlands to stand out at least visually. Monday Night Combat always looked cool despite the obvious TF2 influence. Even Lead and Gold had distinctive elements evident in the trailers. Can't say the same for this thing.

Indeed, the shooting and melee attacks just sort of look chunky and bleh. Gameplay and uniqueness therein certainly looks like it could use some attention here, particularly since it seems obvious that someone's spent a lot of time on their (admittedly rather derivative) 3D assets.

This does look exactly like that Borderlands game (which I've never played), but the use of that A.A. Bondy song makes this game awesome.

How is this an indie game?
Anonymous | March 13, 2011 8:54 PM
Have people really forgotten the meaning of 'indie'? That is, 'independently developed'? Without the use of a big name publisher.
Indie doesn't mean pixellated 2d or artfag graphics, and it's sad that people are forgetting this, I guess.
So please, anon, tell me that you're joking.

Don't mind the Borderlands look but I agree about the need to smooth out the gameplay a bit. I would imagine they're still working on that.

Have you heard about Hawken? Indie Mech Multiplayer FPS - http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/03/10/hawken-the-indie-mech-shooter-set-in-an-astonishing-sci-fi-megacity/
Rorrim | March 13, 2011 11:47 PM
As a 'pixellated 2d artfag' game developer I personally like to be referred to as a Micro Developer.

Where is TimW? He was the only one to post abut indie games before this turned into a Minecraft fansite.

Hey Bart are you Canadian. Because you're using the Canadian version of "about".
Anonymous | March 14, 2011 4:36 AM
No, I'm from Springfield. We talk like that here.

@Rorrim> Yeah, Hawken's sooo pretty. I watched their demo video quite a few times yesterday. 8-)
I'm a little sad they went for fast FPS-style gameplay, though. Might be a good call in general, but personally I don't enjoy mouse aim as a mechanic.

"This indie game isn't as good as Borderlands" ... Jesus, you folks are critical.

This place doesn't often have very nice comments.

@hali
Who said that? I compared it to other indie games that managed to distinguish themselves from the games they were "inspired" by both visually and with their gameplay. I've yet to see the gameplay of this so I commented on the trailer which doesn't do anything to make it stand out. Being indie doesn't make it awesome, being an awesome game will do that.
