astroslugs.jpg After putting up a post about Jasper Byrne's Soul Brother OST (Go buy it and go support the making of a brilliant game and the brilliance of an existing game!), I immediately found myself being reminded that there were plenty of other soundtracks floating out there too. Some of these gems have received extensive coverage both here and elsewhere while others have received significantly less attention. Obviously, the latter needed to be corrected.

With the help of numerous parties on Twitter (one of the best networking resources ever, I swear), I managed to amass a rather extensive collection of soundtracks available on Bandcamp. It's by no means an exhaustive list on what's available on the Internet so if you know of someone that deserves attention, fire them my way.

That said, you can find a random assortment of soundtracks under the cut.

Aquaria: Original Soundtrack

I know. I know. Aquaria is old news. Been there, done that, probably bought the album already. Still, this 50-track behemoth still deserves a mention. I mean, it's 50 songs. For 5 USD. Filled with a New Age-y vibe, the soundtrack makes me think of, well, underwater adventures and spirited journeys across the sea. Of course, if it made me think of anything else, it would have been a rather poor accompaniment to Aquaria, right? Eh-heh.

I'm going to stop rambling now and point out in the direction of the Bandcamp page. As I've mentioned before, the digital album is available for 5 USD. Nonetheless, if you're feeling generous, you could possibly direct 20 USD in their direction so as to be able to pick up their Limited Edition 2 Disc Collector's Set.

Astroslugs & Friends

Having yet to play the game, I wasn't really certain that I would like the album. Nonetheless, to my surprise, I found myself rather enchanted by Astroslugs & Friends. A collaboration between freelance composer Filippo Beck Peccoz and his friends, Astroslugs & Friends features 10 tracks, all of which are different intepretations of the Astroslugs theme. There's metal, progressive trance, vibraphones - the list goes on (albeit for a rather short period of time).

Pricing-wise, it follows the 'pay what you will' model. All proceeds will be split evenly amongst the participating composers. Check out the BandCamp page here.

Sanctum

For a First-Person Shooter/Tower Defense sort of game, the Sanctum soundtrack is amazingly Zen-like. I mean, I could see it being played at some sort of swanky club somewhere. People would be dressed in suits. Champagne glasses would clink. It's that kind of music. There's only one track, the appropriately named 'Meat Grinder', that sounds like it belongs on the field of war. Still, if you're in the mood for chill sounding electronic, this might be a good bet. It's also priced at 0.50 cents but, as always, if you're inclined towards paying more, I'm sure you would make someone out there pretty happy.

To The Moon

There's something hopeful about the To the Moon OST. Then again, given the subject material, it's also rather inappropriate. For those of you who have to hear about it, To the Moon is an upcoming title by Freebird Games that will revolve around an old man's dying wish and two scientists who strive to accomplish this. Of the samples offered, my favorite has probably got to be the Trailer Theme

It's a little pricier, I think, compared to the others above but the samples are still worth a listen.

And that's all for today. Expect more over the course of the weekend!
