Why are all artificial intelligences in the media always a little bit wonky? Like its spiritual predecessors, Nous isn't really right in the mainframe. Heck, it isn't really sure what it is. Fortunately, however, it has you. Through the assistance that it renders you, it will be able to fathom its own nature.

Described as a "bloody-minded refusal to abandon tense action moments in pursuit of meaningful storytelling", Nous is a top-down, wave-based action-art game. The gameplay mechanics themselves are pretty straightforward but the delivery is something else entirely. To put it succinctly, I think the developers have definitely delivered on their promise. What I found most impressive, however, was how easy it was to feel a sense of empathy towards Nous. The titular AI might be kind of crazy and possibly out to kill you but it's hard not to find its confusion endearing. Then again, it could be just me.

Nous is definitely worth checking out. You can download it here.
