While the Xbox Live Indie Games service has no shortage of racing games (many of which feature those damnable Avatars), need1D's Ocean Drive Challenge tackles a rarely-explored niche, citing inspiration from Sega's OutRun and other classic arcade titles.

Ocean Drive Challenge ditches polygonal racetracks in favor of scaling, layered sprites -- a technique that was especially popular among racing games in the late '80s. Players race against the clock in a variety of exotic locales, accompanied by a looping background music track and the occasional driver comment.

Ocean Drive Challenge is priced at 80 Microsoft points ($1).
