Mojang's Notch Reveals Next Title: 0x10c

Markus "Notch" Persson unveiled his first batch of details on his newest creation: 0x10c (that's a superscript "c"). This will be a space game in which the developer hopes to include lots of engineering, mining, trading, looting, and battling with AI or other players.
0x10c will release early like Minecraft for purchasers to help shape the game's development. Interestingly enough, Notch posted a different approach to monetization compared to Minecraft. "The cost of the game is still undecided, but it's likely there will be a monthly fee for joining the Multiverse as we are going to emulate all computers and physics even when players aren't logged in." The website adds that single player won't have any recurring fees.
0x10c takes place in the year 281 474 976 712 644 AD. Lost people are starting to wake up on a ship from an accidentally extended deep sleep to a universe on the brink of extinction.
The ship's generator and computer sound like they involve a bit of resource management. Described on the blog, "Each ship has a generator capable of producing a fixed wattage, and everything you connect to it drains wattage...The computer in the game is a fully functioning emulated 16 bit CPU that can be used to control your entire ship, or just to play games on while waiting for a large mining operation to finish."
The next bit of information coming soon will be the specifications of the 16-bit CPU, which Notch writes will offer "a head start" for gamers who are into programming. Those who want to bookmark the site or see everything Notch has written so far can do so with this link.
