I am pretty sure that Diaspora: Shattered Armistice could have been a successful commercial game I would probably urge you to buy, but, as it currently stands in all its freeware glory, there is absolutely no reason you are not playing it right now. I mean, tsk, really... If you ever loved space fighter sims, if you ever loved Battlestar Galactica, if you ever loved sci-fi games or if you ever loved being entertained, you will definitely adore Diaspora.
It's a beautiful, fully-voiced, masterfully crafted and actually gorgeous game pitting you against the Cylon forces and having you dogfight from your MK VII Viper, Raptor or MK VIIe cockpit. Yes, this does mean you'll get to fly and fight around Galactica itself, though it doesn't reveal the fact that Diaspora is feature-packed enough to come with both multiplayer options and a mission editor, which, well, it happily does.
You can download Diaspora: Shattered Armistice here. The game will run on Windows, Mac and Linux machines and, just so you know, has been built on the Freespace 2 engine.
