This week on "Best Of Indie Games," we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week.
The goodies in this edition include a full scale tribute to everyone's favorite classic Pac-Man, a physics-based puzzle game by Fantastic Contraption developer Northway Games, a Galaga-inspired bullet hell shoot-'em-up, plus the new collaborative project from Jonatan "cactus" Söderström and Dennis Wedin.
Here's some recent highlights from IndieGames.com:
Game Pick: 'The Pac-Man' (JMRante, freeware)
"Spanning over 70 stages and 10 varied worlds, The Pac-Man will have you taking on the familiar task of devouring as many suspicious, orb-like things as possible while avoiding the wrath of the resident ghoulies."
Game Pick: 'Captain Foraxian' (Farbs, commercial indie)
"Inspired by wave-based arcade shooters like Galaga and Gaplus, Captain Foraxian pits players against enemy formations that become more wily and agile as gameplay progresses."
Game Pick: 'Nuign Specter' (Jake Clover, freeware)
"In Nuign Specter players spend their time as a seemingly old creature, who walks a bit slowly with a cane in one hand and screen-shaking shotgun in the other."
Game Pick: 'Hotline Miami' (Dennaton Games, commercial indie)
"Hotline Miami is a game that thematically walks the fine line separating Scarface and Hostel while simultaneously offering some impressively elegant and precise arcade action."
Game Pick: 'Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams' (Black Forest Games, commercial indie)
"Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a colorful side-scroller in which players must switch between two characters in order to traverse difficult platforming sequences and solve environmental puzzles."
Game Pick: 'Atum' (Team Cupcake, browser)
"IGF 2013 entry Atum uses the player as the mechanic in a mixture of point-and-click gameplay and platformer puzzles, with design influenced by Blade Runner and Martian Time Slip."
Game Pick: 'Hyperspace Pinball' (Gamieon, commercial indie)
"Hyperspace Pinball is an arcade-style shoot-'em-up that plays like a pinball game. Enemy squadrons must be destroyed with well-timed shots, while bumpers and loops award power-ups and other bonuses."
Game Pick: 'Incredipede' (Northway Games, commercial indie)
"In this choose-your-own-QWOP-adventure with a stunning landscape realized by Thomas Shahan, players assemble the limbs and muscles of Quozzle and control her appendages via keyboard."
