Exis Interactive has released Majestic-12, an excellent-looking multiplayer run-and-gun shooter created as a side project by a team of developers from Firaxis (XCOM: Enemy Unknown) and Irrational Games (Bioshock Infinite).

Described as a blend of Konami's classic Contra and The Behemoth's multiplayer brawler Castle Crashers (or "Contra Crashers," as the developer succinctly puts it), Majestic-12 allows up to four players to team up and battle armies of bizarre enemies -- and each other -- throughout a series of cooperative and competitive gameplay modes.

The game also has a good sense of humor about itself. Witness, for example, Indie Mode -- a crucial feature that should be included in all indie games, really.

Majestic-12 is priced at $9.99. A free demo version is available here.
