Similar to classics like Ikari Warriors, Venusian Vengeance is a vertically scrolling action game in which a lone soldier must take down an army of space communists and their alien pals. A free Flash demo version can be played here.
"The game takes place in an alternate history where the communists won the space race and colonized Venus," developer Alec Stamos explains. "The Americans, not far behind with their own space program, sent you to uncover what the Communists are working on in their secret Venusian weapons lab. The game is inspired by 80s action movies and games, and is filled with explosions and one-liners."
Venusian Vengeance is priced at $7.99. Stamos has also launched a series of videos in which he will commentate over gameplay footage and discuss the ideas that drove the game's creation.
