Sony revealed nine indie 'console debuts' for the $399 PS4 at its E3 media briefing this evening, showing the platform holder's ongoing commitment to self-publishing titles. The segment began with Bastion developer Supergiant taking the stage to show off Transistor, coming to the PS4 console first in 2014. Other titles included Don't Starve by Klei, Galak-Z by 17-bit, Mercenary Kings by Tribute Games, Octodad: Dadliest Catch by Young Horses, Oddworld: Abe's Oddyssey New 'n' Tasty by Oddworld Inhabitants (also coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita), Outlast by Red Barrels, Ray's the Dead by Ragtag Studio, and Secret Ponchos by Switchblade Monkeys.
Allow me to be a bit subjective here, but it was wonderful to see all nine indies get their moments in the spotlight at E3. I thought there would be a quick video collage of all the games coming, but instead, they were all featured on-stage and playing (possibly a recording of) their games.
Interesting to note is that along with The Witness' Jonathan Blow, Supergiant Games, 17-Bit, and Klei released their last games on Microsoft's Xbox 360. We'll explore everyone's games in more detail as each approaches launch, but for now, the best bet is to visit this round-up and click on the individual games you wish to hear more about.
