Josh Riley's seven-day RTS jam entry Android Arena is a singe player battle to color the majority of the board, competing against 1-5 other color factions. You do so by first planting a base and then melee and shooter robots which paint their pathways. You can lay simple traps or turn the characters 90 degrees to send them on different pathways, too.
As a non-veteran of RTS games, I found Android Arena easy to understand, control, and win. I've yet to take down someone's base, but I hope it's actually possible, even though I know it's not the goal. Lastly of note, I like how the music escalates with the tension.
Those interested can grab the Ludum Dare/7DRTS entry here.
