Invasodado is easy to describe, but mastering the gameplay is another matter entirely. You need foresight, fast planning, and quick fingers to get very far in this hybrid of classic videogames. Essentially, the game is a mash-up of Space Invaders and Columns. Waves of aliens are advancing on Earth and you control the last line of defense, a lone starfighter.
Move right and left with the arrow keys (or A and D) and fire on the invaders with the spacebar. The aliens come in a few different colors, and when you shoot one, it turns into a falling cube. Like in Columns, you must match 3 or more cubes of the same color in a vertical or horizontal line in order to make them disappear. If you shoot one of the UFOs that periodically flies across the top of the screen, it will drop a line-clearing super block.
The aliens arrive in different formations and move faster with each new level. You have 3 lives and there are multiple ways to lose them: getting shot, letting an alien descend far enough to collide with your ship, and allowing a stack of blocks to reach the top of the screen. There are also 2 and 5 minute timed modes that allow you only one life.
Invasodado is the debut from Corundum Games and is currently in open beta release. It's also open source, so you can tinker with the code yourself if you are so inclined. I should also point out that the game includes a colorblind-friendly mode that overlays the aliens/blocks with different shapes, as well as Spanish language support.
Note: To launch the game, run the file called "__init__".
