Lumenox Games' developer Jóhann Guðjónsson has shared today a freshly cut gameplay trailer of his team's upcoming action platformer, Aaru's Awakening, which he says is constructed around the mechanics of teleportation and charging.
The team shared an early alpha demo previously, but it has since been taken offline as it is not representative of what the game offers. That is why the team cut a brand-new trailer to view today, which Jóhann says portrays a much more fluid experience.
As majestic as the creature Aaru itself appears against gorgeous backgrounds, I was still a little concerned about its animation. Jóhann replied, "We have changed certain cycles, and we have a revision planned before release. We are aiming on making a visually beautiful game, and this is one of the many things that we are working on improving."
The gameplay and level design have improved drastically, he tells me, easing players into the difficulty and having them learn how to combine charging and teleporting together.
We'll get to try the finished product soon, as Aaru's Awakening is set for a Q4 release this year for Windows and Mac, with a Linux port in the future. The game presently sits on Steam Greenlight, for those who want to see it released on Valve's digital store.
