Nick Yonge, AKA krangGAMES, has delivered some exceptional browser games in the past like i saw her standing there, PRIOR, and the recent, underplayed Sky Freaks. Now, he's focused his efforts on his biggest game yet, Emerald, a story-driven science-fiction adventure that he describes as "Thomas Was Alone meets Analogue: A Hate Story meets System Shock, but without any gravity."
You awaken aboard a seemingly abandoned starship. The artificial gravity is only one of a number of systems that have failed, so you float around the corridors, exploring the ship and reactivating the systems necessary for your survival. You'll learn how you got to this point (in a literal and a much broader sense) through a series of interactive flashbacks. You can read about the ship and its mission on various computer terminals, but you might have to decrypt the data files first.
Emerald is all about discovery, and it's packed with mysteries, puzzles, and secrets. Along the way to solving at least some of its mysteries, you'll have to make choices that affect the outcome of the game. Depending on decisions you make and what systems you activate, you can wind up with any of 9 different endings (so far).
Emerald is set to be released for Windows, Mac, and Linux on February 13th, 2014. For now, you can join me in supporting the Kickstarter campaign.
