Ludum Dare jam entry Xyloctopus from iterative deepening is beautiful and has a great concept as a "puzzle action musical game," though its control scheme isn't perfect.
The background of the underwater playing field is separated into tiles. At the beginning of each round, several tiles light up and associate themselves with notes. You are a cute little octopus who swims around the level, trying to activate a certain number of notes within 10 seconds. You get to decide when your 10 seconds starts by pressing the shift key when you're ready, and if you fail you can simply try again. Movement takes some getting used to, as you have to repeatedly hit CTRL (or ALT, if you're on a Mac) to keep the octopus going. However, once you've beaten the level, your short tune is replayed for you in a rather satisfying way.
It's not the easiest game to play, but it's still worth checking out.
