If I led with this game's name, I think I probably would have lost some readers before they even saw it. Andymente's Vampire Bloody Star X for Windows is a mostly English-friendly arena shooter wherein the majority of the game's modes you are stuck in the middle of the screen and can't move. This creates a very suffocating feeling quickly, as wonderful geometric arrangements of enemies sprial toward you. All you can do is aim and shoot with the mouse and left-click button or use a level-depleting barrier with the right-click.
Easy mode will seem just that in the first level, but after, you're in for a supreme fight that only the best of mouse-movers can survive. Slowly, you will unlock more modes. The hard mode which opens up next trades bullets for lock-on bolts. You can lock on to a seemingly infinite amount of enemies, but eventually they will converge on you, so you have to let go at the right time to get good shots.
As you progress, you get to spend your score points in an English-friendly shop. When you navigate menus, left-click allows you to proceed or select an item and right-click lets you back out of any menu.
Along with the minimal but easy to process graphics, the music by Mayday and YamatoGirl is easy on the ears, in a way that's full of high energy. Other than a bizarre name choice, Vampire Bloody Star X earns an all-around recommendation!
