Zazaboon's Colorful Shooting for Windows [からふる☆しゅーてぃんぐ] presents a challenge beyond bullet dodging, with tri-colored backgrounds that camouflage enemies' bullets. The game otherwise plays as a standard vertical shmup in the vein of Shikigami no Shiro or Touhou: shoot enemies, reach a boss, exchange some dialogue, and repeat.
Thankfully, Colorful Shooting doesn't offer any power-ups or coins to collect. I had to focus enough on the bullets and where I think they are, as they blend into the colorful background.
The game is in Japanese, but it's easy to start and play. Click on Game_v804.exe and the default red word for challenge [チャレンジ] with the "Z" key, and then pick 1-3 (easy to hard mode) with "Z" again. Arrows control the player, "Z" shoots, "X" bombs, and "C" slows down the player and concentrates the shot.
While not the most accessible game, Colorful Shooting for Windows at least attempts something different in the crowded genre. Click on the [ここをクリックすると 「からふる☆しゅーてぃんぐ」 のダウンロードがはじまります!] link to begin your download.
