Starseed Pilgrim and Probability 0 developer Droqen has also made many clever platformers for free. His smart Ludum Dare 28 entry, a sword game, was polished a bit after the 48-hour compo and is available for everyone to try. Using LD's theme, players "only get one" sword, and it's a choice players have to live with the rest of the game.
Players lug their sword through several levels, charging or hurling their weapon towards enemies to kill them. One set of doors opens with the sword inserted, while others sometimes take a little trick to open.
Immediately after playing, I gained a newfound appreciation for platforming easily with weapons bigger than what should be allowed. Droqen told me the current version of the game is "110% in progress, 0% 'complete'." Maybe with enough encouragement, he'll continue to polish it.
