I've often wondered what it would be like to control the action in a cartoon. Think more Steamboat Willie than Dragonball Z and you'll have the graphical basis for Cuphead, a run-and-gun fighting-game that's starting to make waves.
Cuphead is being made by Studio MDHR, and they seem to be taking their commitment to the action genre pretty seriously. The plan is to top the current Guinness World Record for Most Boss Battles in a Run and Gun Game, which is currently sitting at a pretty intense 25. The target is 30, meaning this will probably feel something like a Treasure game by the time development is done.
There will be a co-op mode (with a character cutely named Mugman), equipable weapons, a playable world map and lots of secrets. A 2014 release is planned for Windows with ports to Mac and Linux after. The developer also mentioned in the comments that they would consider releasing on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One as well.
