Originally created for the Ludum Dare 28 competition, One Spear Arena is a fast-paced arcade game where you are armed with just one spear to protect yourself from the hostile savages. Once you've thrown your spear, you'll have to retrieve it first before you can use it again. Maps are randomly generated each time you play, and the three locations that you can choose from also features distinct terrain or weather effects.
You move around by tapping on the screen. To use your weapon, just place your finger on the touchscreen for a few seconds. Lift the finger when you are ready to throw, and the spear will be flung at the location where you're pointing at. Retrieving the spear is done automatically when your savage walks over it, but you can't pick up a weapon that doesn't belong to you in the first place. To skin a savage for bonus points, just stand over the body of your defeated adversary for three seconds.
The explosive barrels found in the jungle map can be used to your advantage. Hitting a barrel with your spear causes it to blow up, killing anything that's within its small radius. Players have to take into account the strong winds in the snowstorm locations when throwing their spears at an enemy, and molten lavas in the volcano area can cause instant death if you don't watch your step.
One Spear Arena is available to purchase now from the App Store for only $2.99.
