Giant Evil Robots has released this announcement trailer for Fat Beets, a combination rhythm and matching game that looks like it would take some getting used to, but which also looks like it could be a lot of fun.

The gameplay footage in the video above starts at about 0:13. It shows what looks like a standard match three game using white, orange, and purple beets in place of gems at first glance. At the top of the field, however, is a rhythm gauge which shows certain beet colors on specific musical beats. It looks like the goal is to destroy groups of beets of a certain color when they match the beet color shown on a given beat of music.

The developer plans to have the game out by early September. Right now it's in development for Windows and Android, but Giant Evil Robots plans to run a Kickstarter soon in the hopes of being able to bring the game to Mac and Linux as well.
