"Oh! My Car!" These words were burned into my heart and soul the day I made Haggar wreck some dude's car in Final Fight. I don't know what it was about Capcom that made them love breaking cars for bonus points, but the same affliction has hit Lek Chan, a painter and game developer from Taiwan who's just released Sudden Bonus. In it, you can put years of breaking random object training to work as you help the Yonekura family win fabulous prizes for wanton destruction.
Sudden Bonus is about a family that's been thrown onto an odd gameshow, one that can happen at any random time. When it's game time, they have to break several household objects as fast as they can, ripping apart water coolers, chalk boards, and whatever else gets dumped in front of them. You have an array of punches and kicks you can throw, as well as unlockable special moves that will help you demolish the offending chair, lamp, or clock. Which is kind of strange, really, because isn't this the kind of stuff you'd normally win on a game show? Video games are weird.
Dad's not the only one getting in on the action, as mom, son, daughter, and the family dog all want to take part in the mayhem. Each one has their own movesets and special attacks, so if you're getting tired of wrecking the house with one person, you can always try out the kid's tank blast for the dog's whirlwind ability. With a lot of items to unlock and some flashy special abilities, Sudden Bonus promises some silly, free fun for your phone. It really needs someone walking in, heartbroken, to cry over the wreckage of their broken lamp, though.
Sudden Bonus is available for free on the App Store and Google Play. For more information on the game and Lek Chan, you can head to the developer's site or follow them on Facebook, YouTube, Google +, and Twitter.
