Tin Man Games have been bringing choose-your-own-adventure gamebooks to the digital age for quite some time now. Happily, they 've been doing a stellar job too and to make the happiness a tad happier they 've decided to tackle Steve Jackson's and Ian Livingstone's classic The Warlock Of Firetop Mountain.
This though won't be a simple (well, relatively speaking) digitization affair and that's why the devs are looking for some sweet crowdfunding support on Kickstarter.
This will apparently be the studio's most ambitious project yet and an attempt to bring said Fighting Fantasy gamebook closer towards its tabletop RPG roots and thus lovingly have its text accompanied by an interactive 3D map, collectible digital miniatures (based on Otherworld's existing range!), an updated combat system and the ability to explore Firetop Mountain with a variety of characters.
What's more, and as the campaign has already reached its funding goal and moved on to achieve a couple stretch goals, the original illustrator of the gamebook, Russ Nicholson, will be returning to create more artwork for The Warlock Of Firetop Mountain. Yes, this is quite a big deal, you know; I absolutely love the man's work.
Oh, and a pledge of $25 will get you a copy of the game upon launch for Windows, Mac and Linux both DRM-free and on Steam. Apparently you'll also be getting two of Tin Man Games' existing games and the inclusion of your name in the game's credits. Also, a wallpaper.
