Capturing the spirit of games such as Nuclear Throne and Hyper Light Drifter, 2D action rogue-like Ruin of the Reckless ups the speed for some pretty intense monster bashing. All decked out in different gear and armed to the teeth with weapons and spells, your goal is to ascend a mysterious tower and, you know, try not to die. All kinds of fiendish foes like skullslimes and ratcoons will try their best to stop you. Nasty little critters, those.
The game by two-man team Faux-Operative Games has been in development for over a year now, and the current build feels pretty good already, with fast-paced, fluid combat and an interesting design all over the place. Co-op is another feature they'd like to emphasize, which is just as well, because each run throws randomly generated levels at you and the challenge can be pretty steep.
There's a Kickstarter campaign going on right now, and it has almost reached its modest goal of $10.000. With rewards like art prints, plushies, and of course the option to get a copy of the game for $15, you should probably check it out. For more information, you can visit the game's website and follow the developers on Twitter.
