Chilie: The First Encounter tells a story about a wild little girl and the adventures she goes on with her guardian throughout China. To keep her on task, though, you're going to have to give your brain a bit of a workout.

Chilie: The First Encounter offers a handful of different interactions depending on what its characters are doing. The game uses quicktime events to get players through certain scenes, testing their reflexes, but it will also call up equations that the player will have to put together to get a specific number. By hitting the arrow keys in the right directions and choosing the correct set of numbers and values, they can keep the plot moving along.

The story of Chilie, the excitable redhead child, and her journey through China to find her mother is what will draw you into the gameplay. I'm not terribly excited by educational games, but the cell-shaded art style and madcap storyline and events made me willing to do a little math.

Chilie: The First Encounter is available for $3.99 on Steam. For more information on the game and developer Beckoning Cat, you can head to the game's site or follow them on Facebook and YouTube.
