Featuring lectures, postmortems and roundtables from some of the most notable independent game creators around, the Independent Games Summit is a yearly event, with iterations thus far taking place in March 2007, February 2008, March 2009 and March 2010 at Game Developers Conference.

18. Tower Defense


It seems that every other addition on any Flash game portal is of the Tower Defense variety these days. Players are usually allowed limited resources to erect all manner of defense mechanisms around a winding path, and must ensure that no enemies pass through or run the risk of having to replay the level again. Many would recommend Desktop Tower Defense as the pick of the litter, and the recent Wizard's Gleemax award win only serves to cement its place on this list.
