6. Beacon

Depending on how good you are at overcoming difficult challenges, Beacon can be a rather lengthy platformer that will take some time to beat. Shadows are lurking in every corner waiting for our protagonist to make a wrong move, but as luck would have it a beacon of light appears out of nowhere to help him illuminate the way forward.

The beacon will occasionally take a branching path that is out of your reach, and you would have to rely on the light from blue and red crystals just as often to progress.

"I was having a terrible time up to the day I made Beacon. Ludum Dare 15 was coming up and I'd expressed only minor interest in joining, but due to the down time and lack of motivation, I didn't actually expect to join in. When the theme was revealed as 'Caverns', one which ordinarily wouldn't have inspired me much, I immediately and unexpected knew what I wanted to do. I slept only a total of 4 hours the whole weekend during the contest, and completed my entry early. Beacon was the result, a sinister voyage of forced companionship and a strong sense of desperation. The overwhelming response I received from the game gave me the boost I needed to get back into developing games seriously." - Chevy
