17. Attack of the Meeplings

Joshua Smyth's Attack of the Meeplings is a vertical shooter consisting of three levels, playable using any Java-enabled browser. Gather blue orbs to increase your multiplier, which is added to your score whenever an enemy ship is destroyed.

The game loops infinitely, with a minor speed increase after every three stages. High scores are only recorded when playing at the normal difficulty setting.

"It was coming up to the end of summer break and I wanted to create a game that was the most simple game I could imagine which would still be fun. So Attack of the Meeplings was born. The game itself is an exercise in minimalism - Simple graphics, no power-ups and a mechanic where-in the game just gets faster and faster until you can no longer win (just like Tetris)." - Joshua
